Mieko Miyazaki
A Koto artist in Europe

Mieko MIYAZAKI's began her musical
career aged nine, when she discovered the
KOTO.
Her studies with koto masters Tomizo Huruya and Sachiko Tamura, and
subsequently
at the << Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and
Music>>, led to a highly
prestigious invitation to perform for the Emperor and Empress of Japan
at the
Imperial Palace. She went on to win the highest awards at auditions
organised
by the NHK-FM national radio station. Her concerts in Asia (Japan,
China,
Singapore, Taiwan.), Europe (Italy, France, Norway, Belarus.) and the
United
States consolidated her reputation as a top-rank concert soloist.
During the
same period, she was chosen by the Japanese Foundation, along with the
Japanese
Foreign Office, to represent Japan at international cultural events.
Many of
her solo performances were broadcast throughout Asia (Singapore Asia
Pacific
Club Presentation, anniversary memorial concert in honour of the
victims of the Kobe earthquake.).
