The koto musician, Mieko Miyazaki, has been performing very actively in Europe and recently recorded her interpretation of the complete Goldberg Variations for 13 stinged koto, an arrangement which took her 17 years to complete (Japan Traditional Cultures Foundation). The structure of the original pieces was kept but was cleverly compressed to match the limited pitch range of the koto.
